BEIJING, Aug. 2 (Xinhuanet) -- Forbes listed Hollywood's highest-earning actors on Monday with Leonardo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp on top, according to media reports.
"Hollywood careers are built on smart (and not always obvious) choices," and DiCaprio and Depp are living proof of that, Forbes said in its annual look at the film world's best-paid stars.
DiCaprio grabbed the first spot by earning, what Forbes estimated, 77 million U.S. dollars between May 2010 and May 2011.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp, actors who alternate between box office blockbusters and quirky, independent films, topped the list of Hollywood's highest-earning actors, Forbes.com said on August 1, 2011. DiCaprio, who vaulted from fifth to first place, had two box office hits last year, "Shutter Island" and "Inception," which between them earned more than $1 billion. He placed No.1 on the list with an income of $77 million. |
Meanwhile, Depp earned 50 million U.S. dollars, landing on the second spot; Adam Sandler, who earned 40 million dollars, captured the third spot while Will Smith and Tom Hanks were close behind, at 36 million dollars and 35 million dollars.
Forbes compiled the list based on earning after speaking to agents, lawyers, producers and industry insiders to estimate what each actor earned for the year that ended May 1, according to Reuters.
