娱乐英语新闻:Chic but relaxing style makes gorgeous comeback on Milan runways
MILAN, Italy, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- The Milan men's wear fashion week ended on Tuesday with major houses presenting ideas for an unfailingly chic but also relaxing style.
The preview showings for the 2012/2013 winter in the Italian fashion capital offered a mix of traditional elegance and practical comfort to the new metropolitan gentleman who prepares for the next cold season.
Transferring top drawer clothing into casual wear was a difficult task achieved by leading designers who showed how to always dress appropriately without forgetting to keep a fancy side in the closet.
Giorgio Armani's collection adjusted classic urban color pattern to the comfort theme, lightening tradition with boulder grays and bright sky blues, which reminded of ski resorts' tints in the Italian mountains.
Without abandoning the minimalism typical of the fashion house, the stylist opted to craft dark business suits in soft stretch fabric, deconstructing jackets and pants with wide darts.
As a result, the overlook of the collection was a new comfortable elegance characterized by the use of a variety of textiles in all flexible ways, where wearing a velvet tuxedo with a simple T-shirt makes chic.
The overcoat will be the number one item in a man's wardrobe for next winter, from the iconic double-breasted to trenches and bombers.
Designers mixed materials, combining luscious materials such as astrakhan and velvet with wool and leather, fabric and fur.
And modern gentleman can also enjoy "stealing" some pieces of clothing from his girlfriend's wardrobe, as suggested by Enrico Coveri's show that also gave a preview of the upcoming women's wear fashion week.
"For these runways, we have picked from both collections only those color and textile patterns which recur in both the masculine and feminine world," designer Francesco Martini Coveri told Xinhua in an interview backstage.
The brand's DNA is color, he said, his new collection's hints being the typical pink tint for women's wear and sky blue declined into ottanio nuance for men.
"We have worked on transporting to the feminine world the style of classic men's wear items, from the suit to overcoat, and vice-versa," he added.
Meanwhile, international new media can play a big role in helping top brands communicate the new concepts for elegance, said the designer.
