娱乐英语新闻:Director Ning Hao's "Guns N' Roses" to hit big screen
BEIJING, March 7 (Xinhua) -- "Crazy Stone" director Ning Hao brings his new work "Guns N' Roses" to the big screen after a three-year gap between productions.
Currently in the post-production phase, the film is expected to be released in the first half of this year, its producers say.
It focuses on the story of several Chinese youths who robbed a bank of the "Manchuguo", a puppet regime formed in China's northeastern provinces by Japanese invaders from the 1930s to mid 1940s. The Chinese youths became national heroes, Ning said at a press conference Tuesday in Beijing.
He said the bank coffers were heavily guarded and how the gold was stolen adds to the film's suspense.
The film features such elements as comedy, youth, adventure, gun fight and Japanese invading troops, and displays "cruel youth" and "growing pain," Ning said.
The film's title, literally translated as "gold robberies", pays tribute to Guns N' Roses in its English name.
According to a short trailer released last month, Ning plays a cameo role as a police officer in the film.
A number of members of his old cast, such as actor Huang Bo, have roles in the film.
