LOS ANGELES, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Actress Felicity Huffman, best known for her Emmy-winning role in "Desperate Housewives," and her husband, actor and producer William H. Macy, also an Emmy Award winner, were both honored at the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday, the second couple in memory who received their stars on the same day.
The couple received their stars, the 2,463rd and 2,464th respectively, at a ceremony held at the Gateway to the famous stretch of the boulevard near La Brea Avenue. The dedication was witnessed by playwright David Mamet and Academy Award-winning screenwriter and television producer Aaron Sorkin, as well as the couple's two daughters, 11-year-old Sophie and nine-year-old Georgia.
Huffman, 49, were joined by her "Desperate Housewives" co-stars of Marcia Cross and Vanessa Williams at the event. Williams have received a star for her role, while Cross has not.
Different from others who pose with their stars to mark the moment, Hoffmand and her 61 year-old husband opted for a different approach, with Macy lying across his star while pretending to be unconscious, seemingly taking after his character Frank Gallagher, a working-class patriarch of a family of six children in Showtime's new drama "Shameless."
"The first time I saw the stars on Hollywood Boulevard, I was working on a TV commercial at Gower studios as a carpenter, building sets," Macy said.
Huffman added, "The first time I saw the stars I was 15 and my mother gave me the money to move to Hollywood for a year. "
Huffman is best known for her role as sarcastic Lynette Scavo on ABC's "Desperate Housewives" which is currently in its eighth and final season. The act brought her the Emmy as outstanding actress in a comedy in 2005 and a nomination in the category two years later.
Huffman also received a best actress Oscar nomination, and a Golden Globe award in the same category in 2006 for playing portrayal of a transsexual woman who goes on a road trip with her long-lost son (Kevin Zegers) in "Transamerica," a comedy-drama produced and co-written by her husband of 14 years.
Macy has received the nod for his portrayal of a car salesman in 1996 crime comedy "Fargo," for which he was also nominated for an Oscar, in the category of Best Supporting Actor.
The dedication was held in connection with the recent renewal of "Shameless" for a third season and the end of "Desperate Housewives" in May after eight seasons.
The other married couple to each receive stars on the same day were producers Richard Donner and Lauren Shuler Donner on Oct. 16, 2008.
