娱乐英语新闻:Actor Clooney arrested in front of Sudan embassy in Washington

WASHINGTON, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Hollywood actor George Clooney was arrested Friday in front of the Sudanese embassy during a protest over the humanitarian situation in that country.

Clooney and several other activists were taken away in handcuffs outside the embassy on Massachusetts Avenue Friday morning, after being warned three times by police.

In remarks to a throng of cameras and reporters, Clooney called on the Sudanese government to allow humanitarian assistance into the African country.

Clooney was in Washington to lobby U.S. authorities on the issue. He provided testimony to Congress and met President Barack Obama. He also attended a state dinner for visiting British Prime Minister David Cameron.
