娱乐英语新闻:Adam Sandler comedy "Jack and Jill" sweeps Razzies

LOS ANGELES, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Adam Sandler has set another dubious record, this time in the realm of the 32nd annual Golden Raspberry Awards, as the comedian took home Sunday 10 awards including the worst film and worst actor and actress.

Sandler, who entered the contention with a record 11 nods as a frontrunner for the ceremony, also known as the Razzies, won the two top honors for his cross-dressing comedy "Jack and Jill," making the film the first of its kind to have ever swept every category in the event's 32-year history.

The awards were handed out Sunday night in Santa Monica, California, in recognition of the worst Hollywood films and filmmakers in 2011.

The 2011 comedy also garnered seven other dubious honors including worst remake, rip-off or sequel, beating out other nominees including "Bucky Larson: Born to be A Star," "New Year's Eve," "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" and "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I."

Actor Al Pacino, David Spade and Dennis Dugan were named as worst supporting actor, actress and director, respectively. The film, produced at 79 million dollars and distributed by Columbia Pictures, grossed 147.8 million U.S. dollars in admission fees.

Sandler, who paired up with Dugan for another Columbia Pictures romantic comedy, "Just Go With It," were also named for their work in the film.

The annual Academy Award spoof, started by American copywriter and publicist John Wilson in 1980, was to hand out its honors a day before the 84th Academy Awards ceremony takes place.

But Wilson and more than 600 voters decided to put off this year's announcement of winners until April Fool's Day, a timeframe they figured more in line with their spoof of the entertainment.
