SEOUL, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- South Korean rapper Psy said Tuesday that he is contemplating releasing a new album made up of his previous Korean hits in the United States, after his song " Gangnam Style" became a global sensation.

"About my future plans in the United States, I'm planning to release either a new single or an album that involves a new single, " Psy told a press conference held in southern Seoul after returning from his promotional tour in the United States.

The 34-year-old rapper said the new release would likely be an album composed of his existing Korean hits as his tight schedule prevents him from making a new single by the end of November, the deadline requested by a U.S. label.

It was a hilarious, wacky music video that catapulted the South Korean rapper, whose real name is Park Jae-sang, to international fame.

The video of his song "Gangnam Style", featuring the tuxedo- clad rapper performing horse-riding dance moves across the Gangnam district of Seoul, has received more than 250 million views on YouTube since it was posted in mid-July.

The explosive popularity of "Gangnam Style" has earned the rapper appearance on high-profile U.S. television shows such as NBC's Today Show and the Ellen DeGeneres Show. He was also invited to this year's MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles.

Psy said he believes the worldwide popularity of "Gangnam Style " lies in its sense of humor.

"Many people in the United States told me that the music video felt rather fresh because it's not too serious," said Psy. "I personally think that it has succeeded because it's funny."

"Gangnam Style" has jumped to the 11th place on Billboard's Hot 100 charts from its 64th place debut, and Psy made a jocular pledge to perform his famous horse-riding dance "half-naked" if it tops the chart.

"If I achieve number one on Billboard, I will perform "Gangnam Style" topless in front of a large crowd of people."
