BERLIN, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- Romanian film "Pozitia Copilului (Child's Pose)" won the Golden Bear, the top jury prize awarded to the best film in the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival on Saturday.

The film by Romanian director Calin Peter Netzer tells a story of upper-class mother who is trying to intervene her son's case of knocking down a child while driving over speed limit. It portrays a mother consumed by self-love in her struggle to save her lost son and her own, long since riven family.

"Child's Pose", one of the 19 films competing Gold Bear, saw its world premium in the 63rd Berlinale. The director was born in Romania in 1975, and made his feature film debut in 2003 with "Maria" after a series of short films.

In the awarding ceremony, Ada Solomon, co-producer of the "Child's Pose", thanked the Berlinale, sales agents and distributors for "bringing arthouse cinema to the public".

The Jury Grand Prix Silver Bear went to "An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker", a joint-production of Herzegovina, France and Slovenia, directed by Danis Tanovic. The film was a re-enacting of an episode from the own life of its non-professional cast. Nazif Mujic, who played himself in the film, won the Best Actor Silver Bear.

The Best Actress Silver Bear was awarded to Chilian actress Paulina Garcia for her excellent performance in the film "Gloria", a Chilian and Spanish production which had been seen as a strong competitor for the Golden Bear.

American Director David Gordon Green won the Best Director Silver Bear with his comedy film "Prince Avalanche". The Best Screenplay was taken by Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi for the movie "Parde (Closed Curtain)".

Other Silver Bears were the Outstanding Artistic Achievement to Kazakhstanian cameraman Aziz Zhambakiyev for the camera work in "Uroki Garmonii (Harmony Lessons)", the first Kazakhstanian film in Berlinale, and Alfred Bauer Prize to Canadian movie "Vic+Flo ont vu un ours (Vic+Flo Saw a Bear)", which was directed by Denis Cote.
