LOS ANGELES, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Legendary Hollywood film and television producer Jerry Bruckheimer received the 2,501st star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame Monday, crowning a storied career by one of the most successful producers in the industry.

Bruckheimer, 69, was joined by his "Top Gun" and "Days of Thunder" star Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp who played Captain Jack Sparrow in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" film franchise, The Walt Disney Co. chairman and CEO Bob Iger, and a drove of other actors, industry figures and fans at the event held outside the El Capitan Theater.

"I won't get too big-headed, though, because the list also includes Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse and the Three Stooges," Bruckheimer said, calling the dedication an "unbelievable honor." Bruckheimer, a Detroit native, launched his career by making television commercials.

He ventured into filmmaking and made his flick "Farewell My Lovely," a mystery starring Robert Mitchum, in 1975.

Later, he expanded his career into television, and was the man behind such iconic television series including "CSI" franchise. The producer was responsible for producing "Top Gun," "Beverly Hills Cop," "Pearl Harbor," "Pirates of the Caribbean" and " National Treasure" during a four decades-long career.

Bruckheimer's films have earned 41 Academy Award nominations and six wins, eight Grammy Award nominations and five wins, 23 Golden Globe nominations with four wins, and 77 Emmy Award nominations and 17 wins.

All told, his film products have generated more than 16 billion U.S. dollars in revenues from global box office. The dedication came nine days before the release of Bruckheimer' s latest film "The Lone Ranger" starring Depp.
