娱乐英语新闻:Edinburgh Int'l Film Festival to present film about WikiLeaks story
EDINBURGH, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Edinburgh International Film Festival 2013 will present "secrets" in a documentary film about WikiLeaks scheduled for public screening on Wendesday night.
Entitled "We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks," the U.S. film directed by Alex Gibney tackles conventional focus to highlight crucial background stories whilst giving chase to the controversial website's elusive, enigmatic founder, Julian Assange, who has been inside the Ecuadorian embassy in London and granted diplomatic asylum since June 2012.
"The film is about secrets. Who keeps them, who tries to expose them," Gibney was quoted as saying on the official website of Edinburgh's 67th International Film Festival.
The film also investigates Bradley Manning, a U.S. Army soldier who was arrested in May 2010 in Iraq on suspicion of having passed classified material to WikiLeaks and ultimately charged with 22 offenses.
The film festival opened on June 19 with the U.S. film "Breathe in" and will close on June 30 with the UK film "Not Another Happy Ending" after showing a total of over 126 films from 62 countries and regions.
