娱乐英语新闻:Global movie and music stars honored at the Huading Awards in Macao

MACAO, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- The 10th Huading Awards presentation ceremony were unveiled at the Venetian Theater in Macao Monday night, with Academy-award winning movie and TV stars such as Nicole Kidman, Nicolas Cage, Quentin Tarantino, Michelle Dockery and Matthew Perry on stage.

English actress Michelle Dockery, who plays Mary Crawley in Downton Abbey, won the Best Global TV Series Actress prize. And Mathew Perry, famous for playing Chandler from Friends achieved the Best Global TV Series Actor prize.

"It is a special honor for me to see that Downton Abbey has been so embraced in China. It is my first time in Macao and your hospitality is wonderful. I felt so welcomed," said Michelle Dockery during her speech.

Academy-award wining actress Nicole Kidman was honored with the Best Global Female Actress prize. The Best Global Male Actor was given to famous movie icon Nicolas Cage.

Quentin Tarantino, director of celebrated films such as Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill and more recently Django Unchained, received the Best Global Director accolade.

Booboo Stewart, who plays in the Twilight Saga, won the Best Global Young Actor award; while Jeremy Irons was honored with the Global Achievement Award.

Canadian singer and songwriter Avril Lavigne received the prize for Best Global Singer. "I love all my fans in Asia, so this award means a lot to me. My tour will soon begin in Asia and I hope you will hear and enjoy my new album songs," she stated during her speech.

The South-Korean group Girls' Generation won the Best Global Idol Group. Dancer Sharon Savoy won the Best Global Female Dancer.

Established in 2007 by Beijing-based media company Global Talents Media Group, the Huading Awards are held several times throughout the year at various Chinese locations, feting stars in all fields. This time it also acquired the support of the Central Government's MSAR liaison office together with the Macao Foundation.
