娱乐英语新闻:"Ride Along" secures second win at North American box office
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- "Ride Along" released by Universal Pictures captured the top spot of the weekend's North American box office for the second week in a row, with an estimated earning of 21.2 million U.S. dollars in ticket sales.
The No.2 spot was taken by "Lone Survivor", also a Universal's film, with an estimated revenue of 12.6 million dollars in ticket sales, which declined 43 percent from that of last weekend.
"Ride Along" has grossed 75.4 million dollars since its Jan.17 release, while "Lone Survivor" has grossed a solid 93.61 million dollars after 17 days of wide release.
Open Road's 3D animation "The Nut Job" was in the third place, with an estimated tickets earning of 12.3 million dollars. The animated film, featuring the voices of Will Arnett and Katherine Heigl, has taken in 40.3 million dollars in total ticket sales since its release.
Rounding out the 10 most popular films in North America this weekend, as estimated by studios, were "Frozen" (9 million U.S. dollars), "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit" (8.8 million), "I, Frankenstein" (8.3 million), "American Hustle" (7.1 million), " August: Osage County" (5 million), "The Wolf of Wall Street" (5 million) and "Devil's Due" (2.8 million).
