MEXICO CITY, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Mexican actress Jacqueline Andere, who starred a popular movie of Yesenia, voiced her hope that Chinese movies could be introduced into Mexico after returning from China, where she attended a special Chinese lunar new year TV gala as a guest of honor.

"I truly love the Chinese community from the bottom of my heart. I'm not just saying it," she told Xinhua in an exclusive interview recently, just days after the 42nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mexico.

The movie Yesenia, depicting a love story between a gypsy girl and an officer, was introduced into China in 1977 after being translated into Chinese.

It was one of a few foreign movies that were imported by China and soon gained popularity among the Chinese audience, which has been circulated for many times in the theater.

Andere expressed her excitement and joy at the moment when she came out on stage and thousands of Chinese fans gave her a standing ovation.

"The success of Yesenia was some sort of falling in love with a character," she commented while recalling the era during which she starred the movie.

It was fortunate for her to have a chance to be the leading actress in the movie as it is still remembered by the Chinese audience, Andere said.

"I'm very flattered and excited at the same time, because a movie that I did 42 years ago is still liked by your people," said Andere.

She said Yesenia's love story conquered the Chinese audience with its heartwarming sentiments, and what's more the Chinese people are very romantic.

Andere said that she could collaborate with the Chinese filmmakers in a Chinese television production.

She also hoped that Chinese movies be translated into Spanish and introduced to the Mexican cultural market.

"I watched Chinese movies and I love them, because they are based on the history of their country. Unfortunately I didn't understand them, but I would really like those movies to be promoted in this country," She said.
