LOS ANGELES, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Oscar best actor winner Matthew McConaughey was honored with the 2,534th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday.

McConaughey was joined by Christopher Nolan, who directed McConaughey's latest film "Interstellar", and Don Phillips, who cast McConaughey in his debut film "Dazed and Confused" for the ceremony in front of Madame Tussauds Hollywood on Hollywood Boulevard.

"I got a day as well! And I got my name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame," the 45-year-old actor sang in his Texas accent at the beginning of his speech.

"It's a special day, great moment in my career and my life," McConaughey said. "I feel like it's a privilege every single day that I get to get up on a Monday morning. I have a career on Monday. I look forward to Monday morning, to going to work."

"This industry has given me a lot; it has given me a chance to look out some dreams that I didn't even know I had," McConaughey.

The year 2014 has been a big year for McConaughey. He has received numerous awards and accolades for the critically acclaimed "Dallas Buyers Club" for which he dropped 47 pounds to play for the role of AIDS stricken Ron Woodruff, and in that film he won an Oscar for best actor.

He has appeared in over 40 feature films since his 1993 film debut "Dazed and Confused". The box office of his movies have grossed over 1 billion U.S. dollars.

"McConaughey works harder than anybody else. He deserves this," said director Nolan.

Hundreds of fans turned out to witness McConaughey to accept the star, accompanied by his wife Camila Alves and his three young children.
