LOS ANGELES, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- The 58th Grammy Awards announced awards of all categories on Monday night here at Staples Center, with "Uptown Funk" coming top as Record of the Year.
"1989" and "Thinking Out Loud" won Album of the Year and Song of the Year respectively.
"Uptown Funk" of Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars also won Grammys for best pop duo/group performance and best re-mixed recording.
"This is dedicated to the fans right here," Mars said, "We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the people out there dancing to this song."
For Taylor Swift, "1989" is her second Album of the Year. She was last awarded for "Fearless" in 2010.
As the first female to have won Album of the Year twice at the Grammys, Swift said: "I want to thank the fans for the last 10 years and the Recording Academy for giving us this unbelievable honor."
"1989" also won best pop vocal album, while Swift and Kendrick Lamar shared the prize for best music video for "Bad Blood."
Ed Sheeran and his co-writer Amy Wadge took home the Grammy prize with "Thinking Out Loud" being named as Song of the Year. "We wrote it on a couch in my house after having dinner...Quite odd," Sheeran said.
He gave special thanks to his parents, who were in the audience, saying that they come to the show every year. "Every time I lose they go, 'Maybe next year,' " he said as he held up the trophy.
Kendrick Lamar was the top nominee heading into the Grammys with 11 nominations, who won Best Rap Album for "To Pimp a Butterfly," Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for "Alright," and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "These Walls."
The rock band Alabama Shakes was honored the Best Rock Performance and pre-telecast Best Rock Song for "Don't Wanna Fight," and their "Sound & Color" won the Best Alternative Music Album and Best Engineered Non-Classical Album.
"When we started this we were in high school... we just did it for fun," singer and guitarist Brittany Howard said. "We never thought we'd be getting any awards or recognition like this. My heart is beating a mile a minute."
Meghan Trainor was named Best New Artist, and she fought back tears as she struggled to thank a list of supporters including her parents. "I'm a mess. I have to go cry. Thank you to the Grammys. I love you so much," she said.
Chris Stapleton, who took home four Country Music Association Awards last year, won the Best Country Album for "Traveller." "This is something that you never, ever, ever dream of...I'm super grateful for it," the 37-year-old Kentucky man said.
The Broadway cast of the hip-hop musical "Hamilton" gave a live performance from New York, making it the first Broadway-featured Grammy ceremony. The cast later won the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album.
