国内英语新闻:Beijing police run drill ahead of political sessions
BEIJING, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Police in Beijing municipality have performed an emergency response drill in their preparations for the country's annual legislative and political advisory sessions, a police officer said Friday.
The drill was organized to ensure security during the annual sessions of the National People's Congress and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, which will be held in March in Beijing, said a police officer with the municipality's public security bureau.
Armed emergency response police, 10 police motorcycles and 12 flame-proof vehicles participated in the drill Thursday night.
Police will strengthen preventative measures and be prepared for any emergencies to ensure the security of the two sessions, said the officer.
