国内英语新闻:China calls for int'l peace, security at nuclear summit
BEIJING, March 22 (Xinhua) -- China on Thursday called for the upcoming 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit to make positive contributions to international peace and security.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei made the remarks at a regular press briefing when commenting on President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy's remark that the summit should reach an agreement and make commitments.
Hong said China hoped the summit would further promote international cooperation on nuclear security, help enhance the security of global nuclear materials and facilities, and promote the sustainable development of the economy and nuclear energy.
Chinese President Hu Jintao will attend the summit, scheduled for March 26 to 27.
