国内英语新闻:China, Russia vow to boost ties by linking development initiatives

MOSCOW, May 27 (Xinhua) -- China and Russia will link together each other's economic development initiatives in order to inject fresh impetus into bilateral relations, visiting Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi said Tuesday.

Leaders of both countries have agreed to boost comprehensive strategic coordination and all-round cooperation, and to link China's Silk Road Economic Belt initiative with the development of the Eurasian Economic Union, in a bid to inject fresh impetus into the sustainable, sound and stable development of bilateral relations, Yang added.

During the meeting with Yang, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the Victory Day celebration in Moscow on May 9 and paid a successful visit to Russia, with the two sides jointly sending a signal to upholding the results of World War II (WWII).

Putin vowed to consistently promote the Russia-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, broaden pragmatic cooperation, strengthen communication on global and regional issues, and deepen coordination within the mechanisms of the United Nations, BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

For his part, Yang said Xi's attendance at the V-Day celebration shows the determination of China and Russia to uphold the results of WWII and international justice.

Following the direction the two leaders have set and key areas of cooperation they have established, China is willing to promote steady progress in China-Russia relations, Yang said, adding that China will fully support Russia's efforts to hold the BRICS and SCO summits in Ufa, the capital of Russia's Republic of Bashkortostan, in July.
