UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- China's annual total donation to UN agencies on development in 2020 will be 100 million U.S. dollars more compared to the amount in 2015, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang announced here on Monday.

Li made the remarks when he chaired a roundtable on the Sustainable Development Goals in the United Nations.

He also announced that China's donation to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria will reach 18 million U.S. dollars in next three years.

Li said the China-initiated assistance fund for South-South Cooperation and the China-UN Peace and Development Fund will formally start operation by the end of this year, adding that the China-proposed Academy of South-South Cooperation and Development has also enrolled the first batch of students.

"China will continue to make unremitting efforts to promote sustainable development and will actively participate in the cooperation with the international community on this area," the Chinese premier stressed.

Calling the sustainable development "a common cause for the whole world," Li urged the international community to solve the issue of unbalanced development, promote inclusive economic growth and jointly address thorny issues including refugees and immigration, public health and climate change.

China has fully started the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Li said, noting that the country is confident in lifting all poverty population out of poverty by the Chinese standard by 2020 and reaching the standard of moderately developed countries by 2030.

In September last year, the UN adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development for people, the planet, peace, prosperity and partnership.

The roundtable, hosted by the Chinese government, was participated by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, UN General Assembly President Peter Thomson and heads of various UN agencies.
