国内英语新闻:Political advisors discuss advancing public interest litigation
BEIJING, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese national political advisors convened a bi-weekly seminar on Friday to discuss advancing the procuratorial work of public interest litigation.
The seminar, held by the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body, was presided over by Wang Yang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee.
Wang stressed upholding Party leadership and a people-centered approach and focusing on solving problems to develop and improve the public interest litigation system.
A total of 12 political advisors, experts and scholars put forward their suggestions, while nearly 120 political advisors voiced their opinions via a mobile platform.
They noted that the public interest litigation system has produced marked effects in recent years and has offered a Chinese solution for the judicial protection of public interests.
But some problems need to be addressed, including the imperfect legal basis, support policies and coordination mechanisms, according to the political advisors.
Political advisors proposed expanding the coverage of public interest litigation to include more areas such as the protection of personal information and minors.
They also proposed strengthening coordination between procuratorates and courts and establishing a big data platform for public interest litigation of environmental-related cases.
