BEIJING, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese national political advisors discussed improving the country's prevention and control mechanism for major epidemics at a bi-weekly seminar on Friday.
The seminar, held by the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body, was presided over by Wang Yang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee.
Wang stressed strengthening weak links and comprehensively improving the capacities for monitoring, early warning, emergency response, and scientific treatment, based on experiences from COVID-19 prevention and control.
Twelve political advisors and specially invited representatives put forward their suggestions, while over 140 political advisors voiced their opinions via an online platform.
They proposed establishing and improving an efficient mechanism for reporting, monitoring and early warning of infectious diseases, and strengthening the infectious diseases, respiratory, and emergency departments in medical institutions.
They also suggested arranging medical treatment centers for public health emergencies with practical layouts and improving the system for ensuring medical emergency supplies.
