体坛英语新闻:Two game ban for Mourinho for Supercup aggression
MADRID, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has been handed a meagre two game suspension for his aggression against Barcelona assistant coach Tito Vilanova at the end of the second leg of the Spanish Supercup on August.
Mourinho was caught by cameras walking behind Vilanova before sticking a finger in his eye at the end of the Supercup, which Barcelona won 5-4 on aggregate. Vilanova responded by aiming a slap at the head of the Real Madrid coach, while Mourinho walked away smirking.
The incident occurred following a dangerous challenge from Real Madrid defender Marcelo on Cesc Fabrigas in injury time of the match, which provoked angry scenes between the players of both teams and which saw Mesut Ozil and David Villa both shown red cards.
The disciplinary committee of the Spanish FA (RFEF) decided that Mourinho should only serve a two game ban as there was no proof of his intention to injure Vilanova with his action.
Vilanova has also been given a one game suspension for his reaction, while both have also been fined 600 Euros.
Neither coach will miss any matches of the Spanish domestic season as the suspension only applies to the Supercup, which is played between the winners of the Spanish League title and the Champions of the Copa del Rey.
