体坛英语新闻：Messi scores hat-trick as Barca whitewashes Mallorca 5-0

MADRID, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Leo Messi ended all rumors of a crisis in his form by scoring a hat-trick in the first 30 minutes of FC Barcelona's 5-0 win at home over Mallorca on Saturday night.

Messi scored a penalty given for handball following a cross from Adriano after just 14 minutes. By burying the spot kick, he ensured nobody remembered his miss from nine meters a week ago against Sevilla.

The second goal arrived after 21 minutes when he was on hand to sidefoot home from close range following another cross from Adriano and the Argentinean finished off a quickfire hat-trick just before the half hour following a cross from Dani Alves.

Barcelona had made changes in their starting 11 with Xavi Hernandez left out of the squad and Andres Iniesta rested on the substitutes' bench while youngster Isaac Cuenca made his second start in two matches.

The B-team player provided cover for the injured Pedro Rodriguez and helped give some spark to a Barca side that had looked jaded in recent matches.

Mallorca had an early chance that Joao Victor failed to take, but after Joao's miss Barcelona were in control and Adriano was unlucky to add a fourth after his shot was deflected over the bar.

Cuenca scored his first goal for the club after just 2 minutes of the second half. Meanwhile Gerard Pique had replaced Eric Abidal and halftime and 15 minutes later Carles Puyol also made his return following injury

Guardiola used the comfortable lead to give a debut to another youngster and winger Gerard Deulofeu came into the game just after the hour. The 17 year-old showed a few promising touches, but the game was over as a contest and the last 20 minutes saw very little action in either of the two penalty areas until Alves rifled home a shot from 25 meters to make it 5-0 in the last minute.
