BERLIN, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- German Bundesliga team showed moral when they turned a 0-1 deficit into a 2-1 win to wrap round of last sixteen one match day ahead of schedule on Wednesday.
Leverkusen started confident against Chelsea but both sides failed to convert their few chances into the lead within the first half, although the host had a chance plus.
After the break, with only three minutes into second half, striker Didier Drogba capitalized on a cross by striker mate Daniel Sturridge to slot home against two Leverkusen defenders from inside penalty area to shock the guests.
The "Blues" with the lead behind, defended deep and tried to kill the clock whereas Leverkusen kept it bowling.
At the 73rd minute Leverkusen joker striker Eren Derdiyok equalized the score to punish passive Chelsea.
The "Werkself" seized the chance to flabbergast the "Blues" as defender Manuel Friedrich headed home a corner from the right wing at the dying seconds of the injury time.
Thus Leverkusen sealed their ticket for the round of last sixteen ahead of schedule in group E.
Leverkusen occupies first position with nine points, followed by Valencia with eight, Chelsea with eight points and Genk with two out of five matches.
