体坛英语新闻：German Soccer Association excludes Dynamo Dresden from German Cup

BERLIN, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Second division team Dynamo Dresden will be excluded from German Cup 2012/2013 due to fan riots at the German Cup match against Dortmund in October, the German Soccer Association sports tribunal (DFB) decided on Thursday.

Background of the trail were the riots at the German Cup match between Dresden and Dortmund in where Dresden fans tossed fireworks onto the pitch to cause match interruptions. 17 injured, 15 arrested and a material damage of 150,000 euros were the result of the excesses.

There have never been deadly incidents in our stadiums. If this continues, it's just a matter of time until they're fatal incidents," DFB sports tribunal chairman Hans E. Lorenz said after the verdict.

The exclusion is nothing new to Dresden as they were already ruled out in 1991 for two years from all European Cups.

"The decision is a disaster for a club like Dynamo Dresden. I find it absolutely unacceptable that they set an example with us," Dresden sports director Steffen Menze said.
