LONDON, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Thierry Henry has rejoined Arsenal on a short-term loan deal, the Lodon club confirmed on Friday.

According to the club's official website, the French forward will team up with the "Gunners" in January and February after negotiations between Arsenal, himself and his current New York Red Bulls club in Major League Socce (MLS), whose new season kicks off on March 10.

His return will fill the gap in the Arsenal offensive line after two strikers Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh are due to depart for Africa Cup of Nations this month.

Henry, who initially joined Arsenal from Juventus in August 1999, entered his peak in career when he made 370 appearances for the club and is the Gunners' all-time leading goalscorer with 226 goals.

During his eight-year spell in Arsenal, Henry, transformed from a winger into one of the finest strikers in the world by the manager Arsene Wenger, helped the club win two Premier League champions, which was one of the most glorious periods for the London side.

He also delivered many fantastic goals and classic moments, including his iconic talents of long-distance sprint and burst past defenders one after another to make the thrilling shot.

In 2007, Henry joined the Spanish giants Barcelona, bidding farewell to his dream theater and one peak of his careers.

Three years later, the French legend signed for the New York Red Bulls, which was regarded as a milestone of his times, finally leaving the European football after 18 years in the top leagues.

According to the recent fixtures of Arsenal, Henry, in the No. 12 shirt during his time back, will be available for selection for the FA Cup third round match against Leeds United on Monday.

Wenger was satisfied with the deal. "I am very happy. It was my desire and Thierry's desire."

"I am sure during these two months he will be a massive asset to the team in the dressing room and on the pitch," he added.h While Henry, after signing the loan deal, said he wouldn't aim to prove something but only help.

"I am not coming here to be a hero or prove anything. I am just coming here to help. People have to understand that," he said.

"It is a loan deal and I'll be on the bench most of the time. If I can make the bench that is! The Boss has a team here already who are doing something good. I am just going to be part of the squad."
