体坛英语新闻:Cameroon reduces Eto'o 15-match suspension to eight months
YAOUNDE, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Cameroon's football federation ( Fecafoot) has reduced the 15-match suspension sanction imposed on national team captain Samuel Eto'o to eight months provisional and that of his assistant Enoh Eyong from two matches to two months, also provisional.
This decision was taken in the early hours of Saturday morning following a long meeting of the national executive committee of the federation. Eto'o and Eyong were sanctioned by the disciplinary committee of the federation last December 16 for inciting the Indomitable Lions not to travel to Algeria for a friendly in November because of non-payment of bonuses of some previous matches.
The match failure finally cost the country 250 million CFA francs in compensation to the North African country following an " amicable arrangement," said Fecafoot secretary general Sidiki Tombi a Roko.
In another decision, the committee lifted the one million CFA francs fine imposed on Tottenham defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto by the disciplinary committee for failing to show up for the LG tournament in Marrakech, Morocco, in November, while former international David Mayebi and president of the country's footballers trade union was sacked from the federation for his open criticism of the sanctions imposed on the three players.
Meanwhile, former international and team captain Rigobert Bahanag Song has been appointed the manager of the national squad.
