体坛英语新闻:Djokovic moves into final, Russian pair wins women's doubles title
MELBOURNE, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Defending champion Novak Djokovic of Serbia cruised into the final of the Australian Open here on Friday by edging Britain's Andy Murray to set up a third consecutive grand slam final against Rafael Nadal.
Also on Friday, Russian veterans Svetlana Kuznetsova and Vera Zvonareva captured the women's doubles crown after beating Italian duo Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.
In a thrilling match lasting four hours and 50 minutes, the top seed stormed back to win 6-3, 3-6, 6-7 (4-7), 6-1, 7-5 to reach his third consecutive Grand Slam final.
Nadal rallied from one set down to outclass his long-time rival Roger Federer in the other semifinal on Thursday.
Falling 6-3, 3-6, 6-7 (4-7) after the third set, the world No.1 Djokovic, who is biding become the fifth man to win three consecutive Grand Slam titles in the open era, caught his momentum and raced through the gears to take it 6-1 in just 25 minutes.
He made a crucial break in the sixth game of the final set and although Murray broke back, he won the match by breaking the Scot in the 12th game with a forehand winner.
The ups and downs also saw in the women's doubles final. The unseeded Russians captured the decisive break in the second game of the third set and survived five break points before earning the victory over the 11th-seeded Italian pair.
It is their first Grand Slam title as doubles partners since last year's French Open, though each had won major doubles titles separately.
Kuznetsova and Zvonareva are both known primarily for their singles accomplishments. Both the Russians have been as high as No. 2 in the world individually, with Kuznetsova having French and U.S. Open singles trophies.
