体坛英语新闻:Chinese boxer Meng reach semis at Hungary international

BUDAPEST, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese boxer Meng Fanlong made it through the semifinals of the Bosckai Memorial Boxing Tournament in Debrecen, eastern Hungary, on Friday with his five teammates out of the competition.

Meng was the only Chinese competitor to reach a final, after he beat his Estonian opponent Ainar Karlson on points (13-6) in the light heavyweight (81kg) semifinal. He will fight Nikita Ivanov of Russia in Saturday's final.

China's Olympic champion Zou Shiming was eliminated before his semifinal bout after failing to make the weight in the light flyweight (49kg) category by 700 grams. Zou's semifinal opponent, Hungarian boxer Istvan Ungvari, who lost on points to Zou in the world championship, was awarded a bye into Saturday's final where he will fight Sin Jong Hun of South Korea.

Elsewhere on semifinals day, four other Chinese boxers were eliminated. Zsolt Dobradi of Hungary beat China's Chang Yong to reach the flyweight (52kg) final against South Korea's Shin Dong Myung.

In the bantamweight (56kg) semifinal, Michal Zatorsky of Slovakia beat Zhang Jiawei on 11-10. Zatorsky goes on to meet Vislan Dalkhayev of Russia on Saturday.

Asian Championship silver medallist Liu Qiang lost his lightweight (60kg) semifinal bout 6-12 to Dmitriy Polyanskiy of Russia who will fight Uzbek boxer Fazliddin Gaibnazarov in the final.

In the heavyweight (91kg) category, 20-year-old Rustam Tulaganov from Uzbekistan beat AIBA World Championship bronze medallist Wang Xuanxuan, the youngest member of the Chinese squad, 14-12 on points.

The Uzbek will meet Hungary's Jozsef Darmos in the final.

In the other divisions, Russia's Vitali Dunatsev will meet Britain's Thomas Stalker in the final of the light welterweight ( 64kg) division; Moldova's London Olympian Vasile Belous takes on Balazs Bacskai of Hungary in the welterweight (69kg) final; Dmitriy Bivol of Russia meets Hungary's Zoltan Harcsa in the middleweight (75kg) final; and Britain's Joshua Anthony will fight Uzbekistan's Sardorbek Abdullayev in the super heavyweight (+91kg) final.
