体坛英语新闻：Goalie Courtios wants to extend Atletico Madrid stay

MADRID, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois assured on Tuesday that he would like to spend another season with the Spanish La Liga club.

Courtois is on loan from English side Chelsea on a deal that is in principal just for the current season to help him gain experience at a high level of club football.

The 19-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Belgian side Racing Genk, has been excellent for the entire season and speaking in a press-conference he said that he aimed to spend a second season at the Vicente Calderon Stadium.

"Chelsea know that I want to stay with Atletico, but the decision is in their hands," said Courtois.

"I don't know what is going to happen, we will have to see what happens here and what happens there," he said.

Chelsea are in a state of flux at the moment following the sacking of Andre Vilas-Boas as first team coach last Sunday and his replacement until the end of the campaign by his former assistant Roberto Di Matteo.

There are rumors that Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho would be tempted back to Chelsea for next season, while former Liverpool and Valencia boss Rafael Benitez is also in the frame, but despite not knowing who will be Chelsea coach next year, Courtois was optimistic he wishes would be listened to.

"I think they are going to accept me staying, because they know I am enjoying myself here," he said. "I am here now and I don't know what is going on at Chelsea, the most important thing is what happens with Atletico. With Vilas-Boas or with another in charge at Chelsea, what is clear that I want to carry on here," added the goalkeeper.
