体坛英语新闻:WC final stadium Maracana to open to public on April 14
RIO DE JANEIRO, April 2 (Xinhua) -- Maracana Stadium will be open for public viewing from April 14 despite continued delays to construction works.
The stadium, which will host the 2014 World Cup final, will be opened to the public once a month, according to Rio de Janeiro's state government.
Visitors will be taken on an hour-long guided tour of the works and be granted access to the playing arena.
Maracana, which will host seven games during the tournament, is currently undergoing a 470 million dollar revamp.
A FIFA report said the stadium needed to have its roof completed by October this year to be ready in time for next year's Confederations Cup.
When complete, the venue will boast a capacity of 85,000 spectators.
