体坛英语新闻:Argentine Walter Perez qualifies to London 2012
BUENOS AIRES, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Argentine cyclist Walter Perez, gold medal-winner in Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, on Friday qualified to London 2012, where he will participate for fifth time in the Olympic Games.
Perez, 37, achieved position 18 in "Omnium" main endurance event from the 2012 UCI Track Cycling World Championship, currently held in Melbourne, Australia.
The Argentine cyclist achieved to qualify to London 2012, before Japanese Taiji Nishitani (19th) and Alexey Lyalko (23rd) from Kazakhstan.
Perez won gold in Beijing 2008 together with Juan Curuchet in the other main endurance event known as "Madison", though he won't participate again in this event in London 2012.
Perez also participated in Atlanta 1996 (8th in individual pursuit), Sydney 2000 (8th in individual pursuit and 9th in team pursuit), Athens 2004 (8th in Madison).?
