体坛英语新闻:Nigeria ponders venue change for Nations Cup due to terrorist worry
ABUJA, April 18 (Xinhua) -- The Nigeria Football Association (NFA) said Wednesday it was still confused on whether northern Kaduna State should remain the venue for the upcoming Nigeria vs. Rwanda match due to the insurgence of the militant Boko Haram sect in the country.
The match, a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, is to hold in Nigeria between June 15 and June 17 and the NFA had earlier given indications that it would hold in Kaduna.
Chairman of the NFA Aminu Maigari told reporters that the security situation in Kaduna in the recent past has led contemplations to shift the match venue.
"Football is a game that enhances peace. So, on our part, we are studying the situation for now as we are using this game of football to bring peace to this country," he said, adding that nothing had been decided on the match venue as other things were in consideration to determine the final choice.
"It is my belief and prayer that the kind of situation we are presently experiencing will improve for the better," he stressed.
Rwanda and Nigeria had played a goalless draw on Feb. 29 when both sides met in Kigali for the first leg match.
