体坛英语新闻:Czech Mlada Boleslav to replace Olomouc in European League
PRAGUE, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Mlada Boleslav will replace Olomouc in the next Europa League as the latter was banned for match-mixing, said the Czech Football Association (FACR) on Friday.
Olomouc, the Czech Cup winner of last season, paid top flight side Bohemians Praha in 2009 to fix a game to secure a top-four finish in the league for a berth to the Europa League.
The club was sanctioned in 2011 by the domestic football federation, being docked nine points in the league and fined 160,000 euros over match-fixing.
"We have sent an application to the UEFA, asking it to nominate a different Czech representative to the qualification of the European League," said Rudolf Repka, general secretary of the FACR.
"The UEFA has confirmed to us that the Czech Republic is not losing the place due to Olomouc. As a result, Mlada Boleslav will be placed to the second round.
"This also means that Sparta will advance to the third qualifier," he added.
