体坛英语新闻:Bernardinho to lead Brazil men's volleyball team until Rio 2016
RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's volleyball confederation (CBV) said Tuesday that the national men's team coach Bernardinho will keep his job until at least the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Bernardinho, who has held the position since 2000, led the team to its second consecutive Olympic silver medal at the London Olympics.
Reports in Brazil suggested the 3-2 loss to Russia in Saturday's final could have been his last match in charge.
"Bernardinho is going to stay," CBV president Ary Graca told UOL. "We have already discussed it and it's been agreed."
The 52-year-old, who also represented his country as a player in the 1980s, led Brazil to the gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
He had been the national women's team coach for seven years before taking the reins of the men's team following the 2000 Sydney Games.
