体坛英语新闻:Britain offers to help Brazil prepare for World Cup, Olympics
RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Britain has made an official offer to help Brazil prepare for the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games.
In an open letter issued on Thursday, the British consulate in Rio said it was ready to share its experiences gained from the London Games and help leave Brazil a lasting legacy.
"We know that we can use our knowledge and experience to help Brazil as the World Cup and Rio Games draw nearer," said the UK's consul general in Rio, Paula Walsh.
"We can learn from one another about how to transform sport into a habit that lasts a lifetime."
Earlier in the week British deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said that after this year's Olympics the UK "has the skills and expertise to support Brazil as the baton is passed to Rio 2016".
