RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Just hours after his 63 million U.S. dollars move to Zenit St Petersburg, Brazil international forward Hulk has revealed he did not want to leave Porto.

The 26-year-old OIympic silver medalist has been signed by the Russian club on a five-year contract, ending his four-stint in Portugal's top-flight.

"There was no reason for me to leave. I had a four-year contract," Hulk told Brazil's Estadao on Monday.

"I didn't expect this to happen. I played last weekend and scored for Porto. In an interview after the match I said I wanted to help win another league title with Porto.

"Today my agent called me and said that Zenit had closed a deal with Porto. Now I have to think about playing for another club."

Hulk, who joined Porto from Japan's Tokyo Verdy in 2008, scored 87 times in 181 appearances for the Portuguese outfit.

He also forced his way into Brazil's national squad and was a member of the team that lost the Olympic final to Mexico 2-1 at London's Wembley Stadium last month.

"I'm happy about everything that I have been able to achieve with Porto," Hulk said. "It's a club that I'm going to have in my heart forever. In the end it was a good deal for Porto and it's going to be a good deal for me."
