HUANGSHAN, Anhui Province, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Superstar Sun Yang dominated the men's 400m freestyle and Olympic champion Jiao Liuyang was beaten in the women's 100m breaststroke at the Chinese national swimming championships here on Monday.

Sun, who won the 400m gold in the London Olympics, met no challenge and led all the way for a winning time of three minutes 43.97 seconds, 3.83 seconds off his Olympic record.

"I'm very confident in 400m and 1,500m free. But over 200m I still got a lot of rivals from the rest of the world. I'm working on it to get better," said the 21-year-old Sun.

Li Yunqi from Henan took the silver in 3:47.96, while Hunan swimmer Wang Kecheng picked the bronze in 3:52.77.

Jiao Liuyang, who won the 200m butterfly gold at the London Olympics, didn't make it through at 100m breaststroke preliminary. The gold was collected by Sun Ye from Shanghai in one minutes 8.84 seconds.

"It's been almost seven years since I last competed in an official breaststroke competition," said the 23-year-old. "I didn't have a good rest since the Olympics because I had a really busy schedule. I'm so tired that I chose a less competitive event."

Men's 50m backstroke gold went to Cheng Feiyi from Liaoning in 25.37 seconds. In the women's 200m backstroke, Shandong swimmer Luan Xiaoxuan, 17, touched the wall first in two minutes 11.72 seconds for the gold. Luan's teammate Zhao Qibin powered home in 23.60 seconds with a 50m butterfly title.

In the men's 200m individual medley, Zhang Fenglin of Shandong won the title in one minute 59.79 seconds. Zhejiang swimmer Shao Yiwen claimed the women's 400m freestyle gold in four minutes 07.18 seconds. Hunan's Huang Chaosheng won the men's 200m breaststroke in two minutes 12.67 seconds.

Shanghai topped the women's 4x100m medley with a clocking of four minutes 5.27 seconds.
