体坛英语新闻:Sun dominates men's 1,500m free at national championships
HUANGSHAN, Anhui Province, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- World record holder Sun Yang won the men's 1,500m freestyle in 14 minutes 50.30 seconds on Wednesday, his third gold medal at the Chinese national swimming championships.
Although 16 seconds slower than his own record, Sun met no challenge in the domestic pool and he was satisfied with this result. In the men's 400m and 200m freestyle held on Monday and last Saturday, Sun also grabbed the gold.
"Actually, my coach did not set a high aim for me in this event, considering that I just went through the London Olympics," said Sun after match. "But I insisted on taking every match seriously and tried my best. That is what my opponents and audience wanted from me."
Sun said that he planned to put more efforts on 200m freestyle because he believed he had room for improvement by taking systematic training.
Another Olympic champion Ye Shiwen placed eighth in the women's 200m breaststroke final in two minutes 36 seconds as Fan Rong from Guangzhou Army took the gold in 2:28.33.
Zhang Fenglin from Shandong topped the men's 200m backstroke in one minute 56.36 seconds and Shanghai's Yang Zhixian won the men's 200m butterfly.
The women's 200m freestyle title was won by Zhejiang swimmer Shao Yiwen, and the men's 4x100m freestyle gold went to Guangdong team.
