MADRID, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Although much of the attention is focused on the "Clasico" between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid on Sunday night, there were four matches in the Spanish BBVA Primera Liga this Saturday.

The day began with Rayo Vallecano ending a three-match losing streak thanks to a 2-1 home win against Deportivo la Coruna.

Piti, who had missed training on Friday to go to his grandmother's funeral, opened the scoring after 19 minutes to finish off a flowing move and Jose Carlos doubled Rayo's lead with a deflected shot in 29th minute.

Pizzi got Deportivo back into the match with a penalty shortly before half-time, but despite the obvious tension in the home fans, Deportivo did little to deserve an equalizer and Rayo held on comfortably in the second half.

Referee, Muniz Fernandez was public enemy number one in Zaragoza's La Romareda Stadium as he sent off two home players and gave a penalty which decided the game in favor of visiting Getafe.

There was no doubt over the first red, which was shown to Koffi Romaric for a dangerous high challenge, but Zaragoza can feel hard done to as Fernandez sent off Alvaro Gonzalez and gave Getafe a penalty after Pedro Leon looked to have taken a dive in the Zaragoza penalty area. Diego Castro scored the resulting spot-kick to seal the 1-0 win.

Fernandez tried to compensate Zaragoza when he harshly sent off Getafe's Abdel Barrada with 6 minutes left in the match.

Espanyol won their second point of the season with a 1-1 draw away to Valladolid. Joan Verdu scored a penalty for Espanyol and Oscar Gonzalez leveled for the home team before Verdu had a goal ruled out for offside in injury time.

Meanwhile Real Sociedad have still to win away from home, goals from Paulao and Ruben Castro condemned them to a 2-0 defeat to Betis in a game delayed by a power cut in the city of Seville.

La Rea's failure to defend set pieces cost them dear and they have now failed to win on the road since April, while Betis move into the top 4 for 24 hours at least.

The round of matches had kicked off on Friday as Celta Vigo took their third home with of the campaign with a 2-0 win over Sevilla.

An Iago Aspes penalty with 15 minutes remaining put Celta ahead and Quique de Lucas sealed the win in the closing minutes.

As well as the "Clasico", Sunday sees games between Levante and Valencia, while Mallorca entertain Granada, Athletic Club Bilbao face Osasuna and Atletico Madrid are at home to Malaga.

Should Barca fail to defeat Real Madrid in the Camp Nou a win in the Vicente Calderon could take Atletico to the top of the league table.
