体坛英语新闻:Dutch skaters grab two more golds at World Cup

KOLOMNA, Russia, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- The ISU World Cup speed skating event wrapped up all competitions in Kolomna, Russia, on Sunday, with Dutch skaters scratching two more gold medals.

The championship continued with men's 1,500m and mass start and women's 3,000m races.

In the race of men's 1,500m Division B, German skater Moritz Geisreiter timed in 1:47.42 to win the gold medal. Benjamin Mace of France and Lucas Makowsky of Canada won second and third places respectively.

Chinese skater Li Bailin and Sun Longjiang, both recently upgraded from the junior group, finished 18th and 19th in the race without getting scores.

Canadian skater Christine Nesbitt clocked four minutes, 4.53 seconds during the 3,000m ladies Division B competition, thus marking the victory in this discipline.

She won bronze medal in the 1,500m ladies Division A race on Saturday.

Russian skater Yekaterina Shikhova timed in 4:07.36 for second while Japanese skater Masako Hozumi timed 4:08.54 for the third place. Chinese skater Liu Feitong was 26th among 28 competitors.

In the 1500m men Division A, Dutch skater Koen Verweij timed 1: 45.56 as the top winner, while Belgian skater Bart Swings and U.S. skater Brian Hansen won silver and bronze medals.

In the 3,000m ladies Division A race, German skater Claudia Pechstein clocked four minutes 2.31 seconds, edging Czech skater Martina Sablikova by 0.15 seconds. Marije Joling from Netherlands got the third place who was timed in 4:03.90.

In the race of men's Mass Start, Jorrit Bergsma of Netherlands skated to the gold medal in 10 minutes and 0.07 seconds. Ewen Fermandez from France became silver medalist. Fermandez's teammate Alexis Contin ranked in the third place.

Young Chinese skater Sun Longjiang ranked 10th with 28 points, while his teammate Li Bailin ranked 18th with eight points.

The ISU World Cup was held in the Kolomna Speed Skating Center, 100km southeast Moscow, from Friday to Sunday. The third leg of the competition is slated for December 1st in Kazakh capital of Astana.
