体坛英语新闻:South Korean teenager Shim wins women's 1,500m at World Cup Short Track Shanghai
SHANGHAI, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's 15-year-old Shim Suk Hee won the women's 1,500-meter title at the ISU World Cup Short Track Shanghai here on Saturday.
Shim, who collected the 1,000m, 1,500m and 3,000m gold at the Calgary leg in the World Cup series in October, led throughout the race to win the gold in two minutes 19.463 seconds, while Chinese Li Jianrou trailed in 2:19.465. Another South Korean Cho Ha Ri finished third in 2:19.468.
Li tried to surpass Shim in the last meters but failed. "I tried my best," she said. "But Shim was quite a strong rival."
"The silver is OK to me," she said. "My form is getting better, and the silver gives me confidence. I think we can achieve better results in the following races."
The 2012/2013 ISU World Cup Short Track includes six stops, namely Calgary, Montreal, Nagoya, Shanghai, Sochi and Dresden. The Shanghai leg runs from Dec. 7 to 9.
