体坛英语新闻:Silva seeks five-year contract extension
RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) world middleweight champion Anderson Silva is reportedly negotiating to extend his career for another five years.
The 37-year-old has sought talks with UFC chief Dana White to secure an agreement for 10 more fights before his 43rd birthday, Brazil's UOL reported on Monday.
Silva is the most successful fighter in UFC history, having not lost a bout since 2006.
He defended his championship belt in July with a second-round technical knockout of American rival Chael Sonnen in Las Vegas.
Last month he announced plans to take an extended break from the ring, saying he aimed to return late next year with a duel against Canada's welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre.
Silva, who turns 38 in April, has recently spent time in Los Angeles where he is shooting a Hollywood film alongside his mentor Steven Seagal.
