ROME, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Napoli beat Catania 2-0 to move level on points with Serie A leaders Juventus on Saturday.

Midfielder Marek Hamsik took center stage in this crucial win as he grabbed a 31st-minute opener, turning in Camilo Zuniga's wayward shot, and then set up with a low cross for Paolo Cannavaro to tap in just before half-time.

Catania vastly improved their performance after the break, and had a Gonzalo Bergessio header ruled out for a foul, but the hosts held on to draw level with Juve ahead of the champions' trip to Chievo on Sunday lunchtime.

Napoli head coach Walter Mazzarri warned his side not to be distracted by their rise to the top.

"I cannot change my attitude by looking at the table. Our results come from battles like the one we had today and we must not get distracted. We need to remember every game is a battle," he said.

"We did well not to panic during some moments under pressure today, though we still need to mature in those terms," he added.

In an earlier kick-off of the day, Torino drew 0-0 with Sampdoria at home to stretch their unbeaten run to seven matches.
