体坛英语新闻:Heat's winning streak reaches 22 games in victory over Raptors

TORONTO, March 17 (Xinhua) -- The Miami Heat defeated the Toronto Raptors 108-91 to extend their winning streak to 22 games in NBA action on Sunday afternoon.

The 22-game streak which started in Toronto on February 3, 2013 also tie the Heat with the 2007-08 Houston Rockets for the second longest winning streak in NBA history.

Heat forward Lebron James thinks highly of his team's talent level as well.

"Special team, special ride right now that we're on," said James after the game in which he recorded 22 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists. "The best thing about it is we're doing it together."

Despite all the media attention generated from the winning streak, Heat head coach, Erik Spoelstra has not changed the team's mindset on preparation for each game.

"It just happened to happen. It wasn't something we were focusing on," said Spoelstra during the post-game press conference. "When we started playing better two months ago, it was about the process. It would be disingenuous if it changed right now and was about the result. It's about trying to get better and playing each game to raise our level and find each new challenge."

James shares the same sentiment with his coach.

"It's not about the streak, it's about us getting better each and every day to win each and every night," said James. "We got a team of guys who really don't read too many newspapers or watch TV of sports nature. We just go out and play."

Despite the lack of focus on the streak from the Heat, the fact remains that the team have a chance to set a new NBA record.

With 17 games left in the regular season, they are 11 wins away from matching the record of 33 straight wins set by the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers.
