BERLIN, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Frankfurt keep alive their hopes of reaching the Champions League following a 3-2 win over courageous bottom side Greuther Fuerth meanwhile Wolfsburg squandered a 2-0 lead to share points with Nuremberg in Sunday's German Bundesliga.

Frankfurt secured their 12th win of the season to remain in touching distance of a Champions League play off spot together with Schalke.

Bottom team Greuther Fuerth astonishingly opened the scoring with two minutes into the match when Nikola Djurdjic nodded home a deflected cross by Bernd Nehrig at the far post.

It was a short-lived joy by the Bavarians as Frankfurt's Takashi Inui equalized the score with a low strike from 18 meters into the bottom left at the 12th minute.

The equalizer gave the visitors a boost as Stefan Aigner ensured the lead for his side at the 58th minute when his strike from very close range deflected off Rahman Baba into the top right corner.

The hosts tried to respond but instead Frankfurt made it 3-1 on the scoreboards as Alexander Meier brought his goalscoring drought to an end as he netted from 18 meters into top left at the 68th minute.

Greuther Fuerth were able to respond as Sercan Sararer reduced the lead to 3-2, at the 72nd minute.

However, Frankfurt came through a frenetic closing period by Fuerth where Djurdjic rattled the post.

The win move Frankfurt on fifth position, equal on points with fourth placed Schalke, and in touching distance to a Champions League berth.

In the other match on Sunday, Wolfsburg gave away a 2-0 lead to share points with dedicated Nuremberg thanks to goals by Timmy Simons and Per Nilsson.

The Wolves grabbed a perfect start as Diego Ribas da Cunha curled home a direct free kick goal with just two minutes into the encounter.

Nuremberg responded and lurked for the leveller but yet it were the Wolves that doubled the lead at the 27th minute through Ivica Olic, who scored with a long range curl into the top left corner to put his side in a commanding position.

Nonetheless, things changed dramatically at the second half, as Wolfsburg seemed content with their lead and Nuremberg reduced the lead to 2-1 as Timmy Simons volleyed home a clearance from 19 meters into the top right corner at the 61st minute.

Only five minutes later Nuremberg's Per Nilsson equalized the scoring when he headed home a free kick to flabbergast the hosts.

Wolfsburg climbed to 12th place with 32 points meanwhile Nuremberg stick to 11th position with 35 points after 27 rounds of play.
