体坛英语新闻:Bolt narrowly misses 150m record
RIO DE JANEIRO, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Jamaican sprint star Usain Bolt narrowly missed breaking his own world record Sunday by powering to victory in a 150m exhibition event on Copacabana beach.
The six-time Olympic gold-medallist posted a time of 14.42 seconds, 0.07 slower than the mark he set in Manchester in 2009.
Brazilian qualifier Bruno Lins finished second in 14.9 seconds, followed by Ecuador's Alex Quinones and Daniel Bailey of Antigua and Barbuda.
"It was my first sprint race this year and I didn't know what to expect. But it was a good start to the season," Bolt said.
"Racing at midday here in this heat is difficult. Next time I hope it is in the evening."
Bolt said he hoped to compete again in Rio before the 2016 Olympic Games, should the city host more sprint events.
He intimated his next visit could be during the FIFA World Cup in June and July next year.
"I'm looking forward to the World Cup and believe that Jamaica can qualify. I would love to come to watch. It's going to be a fantastic event."
