体坛英语新闻:Scolari: Brazil fans have right to boo
RIO DE JANEIRO, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari said Thursday he understands the reaction of fans who booed his team in the final minutes of Wednesday's 2-2 friendly draw with Chile.
The result at Belo Horizonte's Mineirao Stadium left Scolari with just one win, a loss and three draws from his first five matches since taking over from sacked predecessor Mano Menezes last November.
"We didn't play well. If we had played better, maybe the fans would have reacted differently," Scolari said.
"We didn't have many chances to score and we let them play their own game.I can't criticize the fans. When we play well that will react differently."
Brazil has not beaten a former World Cup-winning opponent since November 2009, when they defeated England 1-0 in Doha.
The match was Brazil's last before Scolari picks his squad for June's Confederations Cup, considered a World Cup warmup.
When asked if his position would be under threat should the team not progress beyond the Confederations Cup group stage, Scolari lost his patience.
"I'm not going to answer that. You are joking," he said, before leaving the press conference.
Brazil will prepare for the tournament with friendlies against England at Rio's revamped Maracana Stadium on June 2 and then France at Porto Alegre'sArena Gremio a week later.
