体坛英语新闻:China claims 2 more at Diving World Series

MOSCOW, April 27 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese diving team won another two gold medals on the second day of the FINA Diving World Series here Saturday.

China's young diver Shi Tingmao, who gave a good performance from the very beginning, won the women's 3m springboard with a 18.60 point margin to teammate and London Olympic champion He Zi.

The bronze medal was snatched by Laura Sanchez from Mexico.

In the men's 3m springboard competition which attracted the audience most with gathering almost all the event's top divers, Olympic and World Cup champion He Chong came from behind to be crowned with a total score of 553.85 points after finishing highly difficult dives 109C and 5156B.

Counting on home advantage, Russian diver Evgeny Kuznetsov gained 542.10 points, winning a silver medal. Chinese veteran diver Qin Kai settled for bronze.

Ukraine diver and gold medalist of the Edinburgh stop Illya Kvasha maintained momentum from the first dive, leading the first three rounds, but made a mistake when achieving the fourth dive.

The Moscow stop, which is scheduled from Friday to Sunday, is the fourth leg of the series. The FINA Diving World Series 2013 features six stops, namely Beijing, Dubai, Edinburgh, Moscow, Guadalajara and Mexico City.

On the first day of the Moscow stop, the Chinese "Dream team" won three golds.

The Diving World Series was launched in 2007 with three host organizers - British Swimming, China Swimming Association and Mexican Swimming Federation.

In 2011, the Russian Swimming Federation joined the club, reinforcing the international dimension of the event.

The World Series provide the best divers from previous Olympic Games and World Championships with the opportunity to compete in 3m springboard, 10m platform, synchro 3m springboard and synchro 10m platform.
