体坛英语新闻:Rio Pro suspended due to poor swell
RIO DE JANEIRO, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Competition at the Billabong Rio Pro was suspended for the second time in five days on Sunday due to poor one-to-two foot waves.
Event organizers will reassess conditions at the Barra da Tijuca beach-break on Monday, according to Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) head judge Rich Porta.
"It looks like we' ll have similar conditions over the next few days, but we' re looking at a promising swell expected to arrive later this week," Porta said.
"With that said, we' ll be back early tomorrow morning to reassess conditions for a possible restart for round two of the men."
Australia's Taj Burrow will face Brazilian wildcard Gustavo Fernandes when competition resumes in the opening heat of round two.
